Tuesday saw Cheshire west approve the contentious application for the sand quarry in a shambolic meeting .

The representative for both Cranage and Allostock  Parish Councils was only given three minutes to state his case yet the applicant was given six along with an employee also given three minutes.

It was obvious from some of the questions put by committee members that they had not looked at the proposal and had no real understanding of what they were being asked to vote on .

One asked how much material was to be transported in to the site to reinstate the land it was obvious he didn’t know about the lake and was told twice it would be a lake.

Another asked how long had the production plant been there not realising that was what he was there  to vote on.

No presentation was made by the planning officer despite a projection being played on the screen to the rear of the room to explain the application fully to all attending.
